Advise from AK
Help! I’m overwhelmed by email newsletters.
“Angela, I subscribe to a lot of e-newsletters and I have the best intentions to read them but I never seem to get to them. I feel like I’m missing out on valuable information that could help me grow and market my business. I’ve also missed deadlines for promotions and events because the email just got buried in my Inbox. Help!”

AK: Hi Janice, I would start by creating a “To Read” and a “To Do” folder. When a newsletter comes in, open it, scan it for time sensitive offers or events. If there is something you’d like to act on, act on it right away otherwise you are likely to forget. If there is something you’d like to act on but can’t do it in the moment, put it in your “To Do” folder. Remember, you always want to get things out of your Inbox and into a trusted “capture tool”.
Next, schedule time to go through the material in your “To Read” folder. This could be every couple of days or even once a week. I suggest doing this “at your leisure”. Once you’ve read it, let it go. Delete!
Does the newsletter deliver high value content (like AK;)- consistently useful information or ideas you’d like to hold on to for future reference? Create a folder for it.
Voila! You now have a system to handle all your newsletter subscriptions without missing out on special offers and events and with a designated time to read them for valuable info and ideas.
